Características:
The Agricultural Assistant (mid-level) is responsible for representing the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) in Spain and Portugal. Responsibilities include assisting the Agricultural Attaché in implementing USDA programs or projects, managing budgets for activities, identifying and resolving trade problems, and performing administrative tasks. The incumbent maintains professional and social relationships (working to mid-levels) with technical and policy level government officials, industry representatives, and research institutions to exchange information and gain cooperation on substantive agricultural matters.
Requisitos:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years of experience in administrative work, program management, and/or budget management is required. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Good working knowledge of U.S. agricultural policies and programs, as well as knowledge of office procedures, administration and accounting principles. Good working knowledge of agricultural practices, market conditions, and government policies in the host country. LANGUAGE: Fluent level of English speaking/reading/writing. Fluent level of Spanish speaking/reading/writing. This may be tested. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) to create documents and spreadsheets and maintain and update databases. Use of FAS specialized software for reporting and administrative purposes. Must possess ability to analyze agricultural production data and trade data and apply economic supply/demand concepts. Required to analyze marketing information and maintain data sets for accurate trade reporting. Assists with drafting complex technical trade reports. Must have excellent time management skills to cope with the diversity of work and deadlines. Ability to work effectively with government, public, and private individuals to obtain information and provide assistance in resolving finance, administrative, or trade issues.
